Livia Firth Unveils World’s First Biodegradable Mannequin, Derived From Sugarcane

Dubbed the world’s first “eco-mannequins,” the ersatz clotheshorses consist of BPlast, a bio-based polymer made from a 72 percent sugarcane derivative, and BPaint, a range of colors produced entirely from natural plant-based resins and oils, orange-peel-based solvents, and desiccant-free cobalt salts.

Making mannequins from BPlast instead of petrochemicals reduces carbon emissions over the life cycle of the product, said Bonaveri, which is based in Milan.
