What Britain Bought in 2015, review: ‘a dispiriting snapshot of the UK’

This was a really interesting programme on what Brits bought in the last year, and yes I did get a spiraliser (and love it).

“I believe that the choices we made say more than we may realise about us and the year we have just had,” said shopping queen Mary Portas at the start of What Britain Bought in 2015 (Channel 4). And she has a point. You may think that shopping is boring or frivolous or fun, but the things we buy are a snapshot of Britain. And what a dispiriting snap it is. It seems that 2015 was the year of the spiraliser, adult colouring books, Christmas jumpers, Seventies fashion and beard oil.
